About Mrs. McKenna
My name is Elizabeth McKenna, and I am so glad to be working with you and your child this year! I am a former Richland Two student, having attended Forest Lake, Dent, and Richland Northeast High School. I went to Clemson University for my undergraduate degree in Communication Studies (Go Tigers!), and I attended the College of Charleston to receive my Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education. I moved back to Columbia, began working at Forest Lake, got married to my wonderful husband, and now am privileged to be a part of our outstanding eLc program! During my time as an educator, I have received my Gifted and Talented endorsement and attained my National Board in Literacy Instruction.
My husband and I recently added a baby girl, Parker, to our family. We are so in love and find she takes up most of our free time these days! Of course we wouldn't have it any other way. When I am not teaching or playing with my daughter, I love spending time at the lake, cheering on the Clemson tigers, dabbling on the piano, connecting with friends, and going on neighborhood walks with our dog.
I love teaching kindergarten because the natural curiosity of five- and six-year-olds is incredible! They are sponges ready to soak in new information, explore through play, and make meaning from the world all around them. I am thankful for the ways you help support your child at home and believe strongly in a parent-teacher partnership. Please know that you can come to me with any questions or concerns, and we will work together to help your child reach his/her highest potential.
