We had an awesome time today learning how our bodies work, why healthy habits are important, and exploring Edventure! Thanks to those of you who were able to chaperone. We truly appreciate your time, energy, and patience with our excited group of kindergartners! Pictures will be uploaded soon. Enjoy your weekend, and check out the "newsletter" tab later today for the most recent updates about the learning taking place in our classroom. Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education!

We have had a great turnout during Red Ribbon Week in our class! Thank you for your school spirit and at-home support. Today was "dress like a friend day," and we had some good-looking twins in our room (even if a few were unplanned). Check out our photos below. Looking forward to a wonderful learning experience on our field trip tomorrow!
Parents,
It was so good to have your child back in school today! I am glad to see everyone safe and sound after a crazy past week. Even though there is still a tough road ahead in rebuilding our community, it is nice to be back to some sense of "normalcy" in coming to school. I took a few pictures of independent reading today because they were so on task! They did a fabulous job getting back into the swing of things. Remember that this week, we are operating on a two- hour delay every day. Thank you so much! Click the following link to view our updated schedule. At the end of the first quarter, we will no longer need towels brought in, as that chunk of time will go solely towards exploratory play and/or varied instructional activities. Thank you!
Updated Schedule Additionally, I had a couple of parents ask me about a wish list. Currently, our "Creation Station" is one of our most popular exploratory centers. Here, students get to cut, glue, decorate, and create as their hearts desire. While I am excited to have so many creative minds, the supplies are not endless. If you are ever able to donate things like construction paper, stickers, googly eyes, markers, colored pencils, crate paper, pipe cleaners, paper bags, paper plates, and other things of this nature, our inventive little minds would be so appreciative! THANK YOU! On Friday and today, we celebrated our hard work during writing workshop with our first class Author's Chair. Each author got to share a favorite story with the class and took questions/compliments afterward from peers. They did an outstanding job!
We explored our sense of sight with an experiment. We drew a quick self portrait with our eyes opened and then tried to draw ourselves once more with our eyes closed. We found out just how valuable our sense of sight really is!
Hello, parents!
Just wanted to post a few reminders that may be helpful to you.
Thanks for all you do to help your children! Always contact me with questions or concerns. |
Welcome! My name is Elizabeth McKenna, and this is my eighth year teaching kindergarten. I am thrilled to be a part of our eLc program and our FLE family! Beth Busbee is our outstanding teaching assistant who happens to be a lifelong educator herself. Thank you for allowing us to teach and learn with your child every day. We can't wait to get started!
