We are so excited for the school year ahead and cannot WAIT to get to know your child.
Thank you for entrusting your precious one(s) to us. We take great pride and joy in what we do and are always grateful to our parents for the pivotal role you play in our job. Mrs. Howell and I are especially excited to welcome our USC student intern, Ms. Kaity Papadopoulos, into our classroom for the fall semester. We are lucky to have her and look forward to all the gifts she has to offer our learning environment. Please contact me with any questions or concerns, and rest assured that this will be a wonderful year! Ms. Papadopoulos I'm sitting in our very empty (and quiet) classroom right now after all of our little friends got signed out following the performance. They did a fantastic job, didn't they?! I am so proud of each and every one of them. They have worked so hard in kindergarten and are such bright, curious children. I am excited to think about what lies ahead for them as they continue their journey in eLc. They are more than ready to take on first grade next year! Thank you for trusting your child into our care this school year. We have learned a lot together. And THANK YOU for all of your terrific, at-home support. Our job would be so much harder without you. I didn't get to speak to everyone today, but please know how important you are and how much we appreciate you! Enjoy these pictures from our morning with scientist Dr. Doug and our performance! This week, we started studying oceans and animals that live there. We worked in groups to investigate different animals and their body parts that help them move, eat, and protect themselves. Ask your child which animal he/she researched. Thank you to Mrs. Peebles and Mrs. Scullion for leading our research!
Yesterday, we shared our writing with Mrs. Todd's second grade class. We brought an original small moment story as well as an informational piece. We had a great time doing Author's Chair in a new way!
On Monday, Mrs. Luthren came to our classroom to teach us about working together. We worked on teams to build the tallest tower of cups. Both teams worked hard and learned a lesson in teamwork!
We had a great time planting in our garden today! We planted squash, strawberries, cucumbers, watermelons, basil, and more! We'll be doing weekly observations and recording what we notice changing about our plants. Please come check it out on the next NASA night (May 5)!

Welcome! My name is Elizabeth McKenna, and this is my eighth year teaching kindergarten. I am thrilled to be a part of our eLc program and our FLE family! Beth Busbee is our outstanding teaching assistant who happens to be a lifelong educator herself. Thank you for allowing us to teach and learn with your child every day. We can't wait to get started!
